| Glee met New York, but not in a way anyone from Lima, Ohio could ever have anticipated. When Kurt Hummel didn't get accepted into NYADA, something inside him changed just a little bit and it became all-encompassing for him to succeed and show all the people who judged him and never gave him a chance that he didn't need them to make it to the top. He went to New York anyway, leaving the love of his life, Blaine Anderson, behind to finish his final year of high school. The distance worked for a little while, but when Kurt's attention became solely focused on his ambition, cracks started to show and the relationship became strained. Kurt, scorned over his NYADA loss, threw all interest in becoming a performer out the window and fashion design became his new niche... and it turns out it's where his talent lay all along. Portfolio in hand, Kurt Hummel Designs quickly stormed through the fashion industry, and he had soon established a name for himself as New York's latest upcoming designer and name to be wearing on the red carpet. His head spun in the cutthroat industry, but he thrived on it. But getting caught up in the fame and fortune, Kurt let his relationship with Blaine completely break down, and when Kurt kept forgetting to return Blaine's calls, Blaine had to resort to email to end the beautiful relationship they had shared. Kurt was crushed, his head so far in the clouds, he never even saw it coming. He had taken Blaine for granted, and when Blaine refused to talk to him to try and work things out, having believed rumours Kurt had been cheating on him with some gay socialite hairdresser from London, Kurt's glitzy foundations started to shake underneath him. He fell into a depression and he ached every single day with Blaine's loss. He couldn't cope, and it was in once again trying to call Blaine on his cell phone after an industry schmoozing party one evening that Kurt stepped out in front of a speeding car at a deserted intersection in Manhattan and suffered such extensive injuries, he was almost killed on impact with barely a few life breaths left in him. It all happened so quickly that no one ever really got the full story, but it was a mysterious stranger who had been following Kurt home from the party, sensing the distinct misery in the young man whose talent he had become fascinated with... one Eric Knight, a Kindred from the Ventrue Clan who was with his lover, Logan, one of the finest Toreadors of his time. Kurt and his talent were too prized, and Eric couldn't just let the boy die and waste such beauty. He rescued Kurt from scene of the accident, pulling him into a dark alley, but he knew Kurt wasn't made of what his own bloodline was built on. Kurt was stunning, and would walk the world as a Toreador only... nothing else would work. Panicked, Eric lost control and threatened his lover with death if he didn't rescue Kurt... and the rest is history. Kurt Hummel was Kindred, and the world would never be the same again. | |
| THE KINDRED Within a vampire bloodline known as The Kindred, seven vampire clans are collectively joined, forming the largest sect of vampires called the Camarilla, and survive through the Masquerade, disguising themselves as humans. Camarilla policy is that vampires should try to fit in with and hide from the rest of humanity, as to easily feed on them. For this reason, they created a web of lies and misinformation, called the Masquerade, to make the public believe that supernatural beings like vampires could not possibly exist. The Camarilla also believes that the only way the vampire species can survive in these modern nights is if it unite. Any breach of the Masquerade by any vampire risks exposing the entire race. Both viewpoints are fundamentally opposed by the Sabbat, an opposing sect to the Camarilla. The Camarilla also enforces the Eldest as ruling class over the younger vampires. The seven clans of the Camarilla are Ventrue, Brujah, Malkavian, Toreador, Gangrel, Tremere and Nosferatu. When a human is turned by a Kindred vampire, it is known as the Embrace, the vampire siring the human to embrace them into their own bloodline. Each city has a ruler, a "Prince" who enforces the laws of The Masquerade that govern them to protect their anonymity. A clan is a group of vampires "related" by blood; i.e. the vampiric equivalent of an extended family or lineage. A clan is usually a large group, acknowledged widely in the vampiric society. Each clan nurture their own characteristics and traits, and each clan has its strengths and weaknesses. Often the clans do not always get along with certain clans such as the Brujah and the Ventrue actually hating one another. Each clan within a given area has a representative, a Primogen, who is usually the eldest and most powerful member of the clan, who attends the leader or prince's advisory council. | TOREADOR CLAN The Toreador are some of the most beautiful and glamorous of the Kindred. Famous (and infamous) as a clan of artists and innovators they are one of the bastions of the Camarilla, as their very survival depends on the facades of civility and grace on which the sect prides itself. In the middle age, the Toreador were a member of the High Clans, and their numbers were made up of the same types that are common in the modern nights - minstrels, painters, poets and actors. The Toreador revelled in the Victorian age. The Industrial Revolution led to a phenomenon that only the rich had been previously afforded - leisure time. A heyday of theatre, music and art began in cultural nexuses like New York, London and Paris and spread throughout the globe. While the influence of the Church in people's lives (and consequently, the influence Toreador held over the church) waned, those Kindred that latched themselves onto businessmen prospered. Possibly the one thing most Toreador love with the exception of beauty is money, and it was now accessible from places other than the landed gentry of the time. While the Clan has had peaks and troughs, this was a time that cemented them as a true power in the Camarilla. It is said that while the Ventrue are the mind of the Camarilla, the Toreador are its soul. The Toreador portray themselves as the vampires closest to the living breathing pulse of the humans around them (though this honour might be shared with the Brujah). They claim that this is what keeps them so vital and modern. Indeed, Clan members are often the first ones to be aware of what mortals are wearing, eating, buying and sleeping with. The weakness of the Toreador Clan is that the members of this clan are as much prisoners of their artistic vision and sensitivity as they are its beneficiaries. They are often overcome by the beauty they see around them, and become immobilized with fascination. Such things as paintings, neon signs, or even sunrises can captivate them. It requires a successful Willpower roll to break the fascination quickly; otherwise, the Toreador will stand, awed and helpless, for minutes or even hours. | VERSE INFORMATION Following a verse retcon, character info can be found HERE and HERE This rp verse is a Glee (tv series) and Vampire: The Masquerade (rpg) / Kindred: The Embraced (tv series) crossover verse. Various elements from all fandoms are taken here to build a crossover verse between players and characters. It is in no way 100% inclusive of all specific Kindred/Masquerade elements, but follows the brief outline above of the Kindred vampire, and mostly detailing the Toreador Clan, which is what Kurt was Embraced into. As it is an extensively detailed fandom, focus is mostly taken from the tv series with some game facets to compliment the detailed character backstories. This crossover is a spin-off from another rp verse found at  masquesamour. Original characters taken from that verse will also exist in this verse with the addition of Glee fandom characters. | |
